How to grease a Max Prop propeller

Greasing the Max Prop® propeller is a very simple and quick operation and can also be carried out with the boat in the water. Simply inject the grease inside the propeller body through all the appropriate external greasing holes marked “grease”.

The grease used by Max Prop® – type “0” i.e. very fluid – is the result of research into the best product and ensures the lubrication of the surfaces that must rotate together.

Why the zinc anode is important

Galvanic corrosion of bronze is caused by the phenomenon of electrolysis (chemical decomposition produced by an electric current). To protect a bronze propeller from such corrosion, a further mass of sacrificial zinc is added to the bronze mass and it must be fixed directly in contact with the bronze (electrical contact). During the electrolysis phenomenon, the zinc mass decomposes before the bronze and, for the entire duration of the phenomenon, prevents, with its own decomposition, the decomposition of the bronze. In this way the protection of the bronze and therefore the protection of the propeller is obtained.

Galvanic corrosion is accelerated/accentuated in the following two conditions:

• The boat is moored for long time near an iron body having significant mass (large chain, buoy, iron boat, etc.) which acts as a cathode, attracting to itself over time the zinc molecules (anode).

• The boat is moored in an area where the water is polluted. The electrical conductivity of water is increased by pollution, thus favoring the corrosion phenomenon.

To identify the zinc model suitable for your Max Prop® propeller, refer to the Zinc Table

How to vary the pitch of Max Prop propellers

All Max Prop® propellers are delivered with the forward and reverse pitch already set based on the requests and the data provided by the customer at the time of ordering. In any case, the device patented by Max Prop® allows, if the user wishes, to vary each pitch with a very fine and precise adjustment.

How to remove the propeller from the propeller shaft

Max Prop® has developed a special extractor ring that allows you to remove the propeller from the propeller shaft quickly and safely, even after years of use. The extractor ring can be supplied with the propeller itself or purchased later.
